The appliance do not generate the heat but the heat is generated in the base of the pan by the Induction Cooktop inducing the current in the cookware. For the system to work, the base of the cookware must contain a ferromagnetic material which can be tested by a magnet sticking to the base of the cookware.

An Induction Cooker is faster and more energy efficient than other electrical hobs. Heat is only generated in the cookware in contact with the Cooker top and the induction effect does not heat the air around the cookware. Hence, no heat is generated not being used for the cooking process and this saves electricity. The Cooktop surface stays cool and only takes heat from the pot standing on top of it.

With a 1.8 KW Induction Cooker, it takes about three minutes to boil a liter of water, compared to a gas stove which takes about seven minutes to complete the same duty. Frying with little oil in a pan can commence within seconds due to the rapid heating after turning on the cooktop. Generally, Induction Cooktops are 25 – 50% faster and distribute heat more evenly than radiant stove tops and they offer quick, fine temperature adjustment.

Due to the fact that no open flames or red hot plates are generated, the Cooker stays cool and can be used safely in areas where other cooking appliances are considered dangerous, such as dorm rooms. The Cooktop cannot be abused in the sense that it cannot be used as a heater to heat up a room. It can only be used for cooking food.

The cooler smooth surface allows for Easy Cleaning. Spills due to boiling over incidents are wiped off easily. The surface will remain smooth and shiny for many years due to the lower surface heat.

ideally, the Portable Induction Cooktop can be used in smaller apartments such as dorm rooms and maid quarters. At camping sites where electricity is available the Cooktops can be used as they are light-weight,cool and easy to move around. At the barbeque or on the counter top in the kitchen, the Portable Induction Cooktop is a joy to use. The timer function allows you the convenience to set and forget when you are cooking since the Cooker will switch off when the set time has been reached.

The Induction system will not work with Copper, Aluminium or glass. Induction Cookware must contain a ferromagnetic substance.

Ferromagnetic plates are available to compensate for incompatible cookware. As the transfer of energy between the Cooktop and the cookware is less efficient, this regime is not recommended.

Introducing the European wood gas stove The Bush Cooker made by Qvist in Holland. Based on the same scientific wood gas principles as the Canadian Bush Buddy, this stove burns organic matter and saves weight on long distance trips. It will also work in hand with certain Meths stoves, making for an even more flexible cooking unit.
