my gas from my gas cooker has been staining my pots with black soot, offlate. What's the problem?

oxygen ratio is not adjusted correctly. there could be some reasons:
1- air ration needs adjust.
2- gas/air mix cavity needs cleaning.
3- gas type has been changed and you need a new nozzle.
It sounds like the flame is to high.try lowering the flame if that does not work you might have to change the orffices.Propane gas is under presser .and forced with air.natural gas is free flowing.
Sounds like you have Liquid Propane, but your stove is set up for Natural gas.
If it never did it before though, & it all of the sudden started, it’s probably a bad regulator.
You should call your gas purveyor ASAP & get it addressed as it could potentially lead to bigger problems & possibly damage ALL of your gas appliances.
