Should your tank be spherical like mine, you will need to measure the diameter of the tank first. Then take one-half of the diameter which is called the radius. Cube the resulting number ( r x r x r )and then multiply the result by 3.1416, which is an approximation for pi.Then multiply this result by 1.3333.
You have just applied the formula for finding the volume of a sphere; i. e., V=4/3 (pi) (r^3). (r^3 is r cubed)where r is the radius of the sphere.

Calculate the volume of the cylinder; then calculate th volume of the sphere (two hemispheres=1 sphere) then, add them. That’s it. Now, do your homework
You need the exact geometry of the hemispheric ends if you want the exact volume. Or fill the tank with water and measure how much liters you put inside.
LPG tanks are filled up to an 80% only, they have to leave space for evaporation so I don’t think there would be an important error if you take the volume of a cylinder plus the volumes of two spherical caps (the hemispheric ends)

Gee hit the nail on the head! Find the volume of a sphere… and you will have the volume of your LP tank!
OR… look on the side of it, most of them have the gallon volume stamped intot he metal on the side!
